Four Options to Reunite America

In our previous article, we explained why Americans will be facing an economic mega crisis in the next two years. This economic crisis will lead to more Americans becoming aware of the fact that they have been lied to by the corrupt corporate media for many years. This awareness in turn will create an opportunity to promote Independent News providers to better inform Americans and thereby change the political direction of our nation. We need to find a way to reunite American in order to restore a government of the People, by the People and for the People. In this article, we will review the advantages and disadvantages of four options to solve our nation’s most pressing problems. The first three options are either to join with an existing Third Party or attempt to reform the Democratic Party or attempt to reform the Republican Party. The fourth option is to start an entirely new political party - not as a Third Party but as a new major party big enough to replace either the Democratic or Republican Party – in the same way that the Republican Party in the 1850’s was created to replace the corrupt and vision-less Whig Party.

01

Starting with a Common Shared Vision
For any political movement to succeed, it needs to be built on a foundation that is already supported by most Americans. After the Revolutionary War and during the Civil War, one document has already saved our nation twice. That document is the US Constitution.

The US Constitution can and should serve as a foundation for establishing a common shared vision and a framework for solving problems and resolving conflicts. In our last article, we ended by providing readers with a LINK to several free books on the history and meaning of the US Constitution.

02

A July 4, 2026 Poll found that 79% of Americans had a favorable opinion of the US Constitution.

03

Overwhelming majorities of Republicans (88%) and Democrats (83%) have a favorable view of the US Constitution. Most Americans (82%) also believe the US Constitution was important for America becoming a prosperous country, and a similar share (86%) view the Constitution as important for protecting their liberty and freedoms.

The same Americans who support the US Constitution also support the Statute of Liberty and the Pledge of Allegiance – both of which promote the same two issues – the Flame of Liberty and the Book of Justice. We have therefore chosen these issues as symbols for our Reunite America mission.

04

It is worth noting that both major political parties typically begin their meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Planting seeds requires a lot of sun, water and fertile soil
Regardless of which four option is chosen, there are several factors that will be needed in order to succeed. In addition to having a common shared vision shared by most Americans, there will be a need to find enough upset people willing to attend monthly meetings in their home community. Both major political parties have once a month meetings in their county or legislative districts. One of the biggest factors that have limited the growth of existing third parties has been their inability to find folks committed enough to their causes to attend monthly meetings.

Issues to inspire attendance at our Reunite America meetings
There is no question that the issue of slavery was the key issue motivating folks in Northern States to leave both the Democrat and Whig Parties. But what is rarely mentioned is the role that Northern Churches played in turning their congregations against slavery. Northern ministers made it clear that slavery was a moral sin which was why slavery was outlawed in most Northern states. But what caused the Republican Party to take off like a rocket was the Compromise of 1850 – which included a law forcing Northerners to accept Southern Slave Seeking Bounty Hunters.

This crime was followed by the Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854 - which violated the Missouri Compromise of 1820 by allowing slavery in new Northern states. Anti-slavery meetings started being held every week – often on Sundays right after the church services with the meetings being held at the local churches.

05

To challenge the current leaders of either the Republican or Democrat Parties, we will need to find a similar “Bottom Line” issue that will recruit not only Independent voters but also rank and file Republicans and Democrats.

What issue will unite all Americans in 2027?

In our first article, we explained why the Iran War combined with the closure of the Persian Gulf is likely to continue and likely to cause huge increases in the price of everything. Over 100 million Americans are already up to their eyeballs in debt and will have a difficult time paying for food as food prices are likely to double in 2027. As prices go up, fewer Americans will be able to afford the luxury of shopping which will drive huge numbers of shops out of business and cause millions of people to lose their jobs.

Americans are likely to blame Trump and the Republican Party for the disastrous Iran War and the resulting economic mega crisis – which is why Democrats are likely to take over both the House and Senate in the 2026 General Election.

But the truth is that the leaders of the Democrat Party is just as corrupt as the leaders of the Republican Party. They will not do anything to help the working poor pay for food or to help small businesses or create urgently needed jobs. Nor will they reduce the $1.5 trillion dollar War Budget that will be sucking the life blood out of the American economy. Instead, the Democrats will be spending all of 2027 attempting to impeach Donald Trump – claiming that he started the Iran War without authorization from Congress. While the President is allowed to respond to an imminent threat, Iran did not in any way present a threat to the US.

06

Meanwhile, the food shortages and job losses and the rest of the economic mega crisis facing the poor and the middle class is likely to get much worse. Which leads us back to the July 4 2026 National Poll. It found that only 13% of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing while 63% disapprove of the job Congress is doing.

07

As if this was not bad enough, a 2026 Gallup poll found that a record 86% of Americans disapprove of Congress:

08

The July 4, 2026 Poll also found that 84% of the American people believe that the US Government has a corruption problem.

09

Out of 20 issues mentioned in the poll, the top three most important issues chosen in the above poll were corruption, politicians ignoring the Constitution and the rich having too much power.

10

Republicans and Democrats both ranked corruption as a top threat, and equal shares of each party selected politicians ignoring the Constitution as a top threat to freedom. It should therefore come as no surprise that 69% of Americans favor limiting money spent on political campaigns while only 14% oppose limiting money spent on political campaigns.

11

Given that it was massive spending on political campaigns by the War Machine that lead to the election of the leaders who brought us the Iran War, it is likely that even more Americans will be interested in ending corruption in elections and in government in 2027.

12

Just as Anti-slavery was a key motivator in the start of the Republican Party in the 1850’s, so can Anti- Corruption (and campaign finance reform) be a key motivator for political change in 2027. In short, regardless of which of the four options is chosen to reunite America, the movement should have the US Constitution as the Foundation, Liberty and Justice for All as the Common Shared Vision and Anti-Corruption as the key issue that will separate our movement from the existing major political parties.

My Personal Experience with all four options
The reason I am acutely aware of the advantages and drawbacks of all four options is that I have spent many years involved in organizing volunteers for each of these four options. In 2010, I was the Training Advisor for the King County Democrats – which is the largest division of the Washington State Democrats. I wrote a Training Manual for Democratic Party Volunteers and trained hundreds of volunteers how to use a Democratic Party computer program called Vote Builder. I was kicked out of the Democratic Party in 2012 for exposing a million dollar bribery and kickback scheme used by the leaders of the Washington State Democratic Party to take over the Washington State Senate. However, because I was popular with the rank and file members of the party, in 2014, I was re-elected to be a leader of the Washington State Progressive Caucus – the largest caucus in the Washington State Democratic Party.

In July 2015, I convinced the Washington Progressive Caucus to pass a resolution supporting Bernie Sanders for President. We were the first and only Democratic Party organization in the nation to pass such a resolution.

I supported Bernie because his opponent, Hillary Clinton was owned by the War Machine. I was concerned she would start a nuclear war with Russia.

I also started and ran the website, Washington For Bernie Sanders dot com where I organized and trained nearly two hundred thousand Independent voters in the steps needed to attend their precinct caucus and take over the Washington State Democratic Party. Almost none of Bernie’s supporters were Democrats and none had ever attended a Democratic Party meeting. They were supporting Bernie because he promised them “health care as a basic human right.”

At the March 2016 Washington precinct caucuses, a record 240,000 voters showed up. About 40,000 were Democratic party loyalists who mostly supported Hillary while 200,000 were Independent voters who supported Bernie. Bernie won 73% of the delegates at these precinct caucuses – leading Washington to have the highest percent of Bernie Delegates of any state in the nation at the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

13

Unfortunately the DNC was controlled by Clinton and emails were released confirming that she had rigged the 2016 DNC nomination process. The leaders of the Washington Democratic Party were pretty mad at me for leading a revolt against them and, a year later, I was once again booted out of the Democratic Party.

In 2020, the corrupt leaders of the Washington State Democratic Party changed their Delegate Selection rules to prevent anyone other than elected Precinct officers from voting at the precinct caucuses. Their new rules likely violated the US Constitution and several state and national election laws. But they had billions of dollars and no one was willing to challenge them.

In 2023, Robert Kennedy Junior announced that he was going to run for President as a Democrat. He hired the leader of the Peace Movement, Dennis Kucinich, to be his National campaign manager – and initially Kennedy ran as a Pro-Peace candidate. Kucinich was aware of what I had done for Bernie in Washington State in 2016 and hired me to a campaign consultant for the Kennedy campaign to help organize and train Kennedy volunteers across the nation (who were also mostly Independent voters) on the complex Delegate Selection rules of the Democratic Party.

During the summer of 2023, I compiled the DNC Delegate Selection rules for all 50 states. During this research, I realized that the 2024 Democratic Primary elections had been rigged so badly that there was no way for Kennedy to even compete.

In August and September 2023, I wrote 4 reports which together became a 100 page report called the DNC Plan to Rig the 2024 election. This report documented not only all of the roadblocks the DNC had placed to block Kennedy’s challenge but also how extremely corrupt the DNC had become.

14

In early October 2023, based largely on my DNC Election Rigging Report, Kennedy decided to leave the Democratic Party and run as either an Independent or to form a Third Party. I then wrote a report called Ballot Access Obstacles for Independent and Third Party Candidates for his campaign on the process and cost of getting Ballot Access as an Independent or Third Party in all 50 states. While Kennedy started a Third Party called We the People, it was only organized in a few states and Kennedy eventually dropped out of the Presidential Race and supported Donald Trump.

Also during the past six years, the corrupt, Democrat-controlled Washington State legislature passed a series of extremely harmful anti-parent laws. In response, I started the Washington Parents Network where I have been working with thousands of parents - who are rank and file members of the Washington State Republican Party - on efforts to reform our public schools and restore the rights of parents and families here in Washington state.

15

I am therefore likely to be the only person in Washington state who has a deep knowledge of the inner workings of both the Washington State Democratic and Republican Parties. I have thousands of friends in the lower levels of both parties. But I have also been “blacklisted” for criticizing the corrupt leaders of both parties.

This experience has made me acutely aware of the challenges of all four options we will cover next. Any of the four options will be extremely difficult to achieve. At least two of these four options are, in my opinion, impossible. But none of them are as difficult as the task our Founders faced in winning the War against the British empire, drafting the US Constitution and building a government of the People, by the People and for the People.

If our Founders could accomplish the miracle of uniting 13 separate colonies into one nation, the least we can do is preserve the Union by reuniting Americans in the cause of defending, preserving and protecting the US Constitution.

Option 1: Join an existing Third Party
As of June 2026, there were at least 55 ballot-qualified political parties in the United States. Both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are recognized in all 50 states.

16

Three minor parties have ballot access for General Elections in more than 10 states. The Libertarian Party is has ballot access in 32 states, the Green Party has ballot access in 20 states, and the Constitution Party has ballot access in 11 states. The chief benefit of joining forces with an existing political party is that they might already have ballot access in several states. But the drawback of joining an existing political party is that they tend to be either on the far right or the far left of the political spectrum. They thus have no hope of ever replacing either the Democratic or Republican Parties.

These extreme parties have also fallen into the same “Identity Politics” trap as the Democrat and Republican Parties. Our goal is to focus on issues that unite us rather than labels that divide us. Third Parties often impose Loyalty Oaths. By forcing voters to chose between their party and the major parties, Third Parties have also failed to attract average Americans to attend their monthly meetings.

Finally, Third Parties have been utterly unable to attract the votes of elections. No Independent or Third Party candidate has ever won the Presidency. Below is a Table of Third Party and Independent Presidential Campaigns during the past 130 years.

The closest any non-major party candidate has come to winning the Presidency was in the 1912 Election in which former President, Teddy Roosevelt, ran a third party campaign. Woodrow Wilson got 42% of the vote, Roosevelt got 27% and Taft got 23%. Roosevelt only carried 6 states and Wilson was elected.

Roosevelt’s new Progressive Party folded after this election and it ended Roosevelt’s political career. Below is the Electoral College vote with States that voted for Roosevelt in Green:

17

Henry Wallace and the Progressive Party
Before 1940, a populist called Henry Wallace was the Vice President under FDR. Unfortunately, the corporate wing of the party thought Wallace was too much on the side of the people. They therefore succeeded in replacing Wallace with Harry Truman during the 1944 election. After FDR passed away in 1945, Truman served the rest of the term and ran for re-election in 1948. Wallace opposed Truman’s War policies. He therefore formed his own party, called the Progressive Party and ran for President against Truman on a campaign promising Universal Healthcare as a basic human right. His Progressive Party included Elliot Roosevelt, a war hero and the popular son of FDR. Sadly, Wallace only got 3% of the vote and did not win a single state. Truman got 50% of the vote and defeated Dewey. Running outside the Democratic Party was political suicide because he and his supporters failed to realize that millions of Americans simply vote for whoever the Democrat is on the ballot and are simply not as aware of the issues as Wallace and the members of his Progressive Party were.

As if the above was not bad enough, the Bernie run in 2016 scared the corrupt leaders of both parties enough that they changed the ballot access rules for the 2020 Presidential Election to make it harder for Third Party candidates to even be on the Presidential Ballot.

We cover this issue in our 2024 special report called Ballot Access Obstacles for Independent and Third Party Candidates. For all of the above reasons, it is unlikely that the first option of joining an existing Third Party will result in success during a coming General election.

Option #2: Attempting to take over the Democratic Party
Bernie Sanders nearly succeeded in taking over the Democratic Party in 2016. This fact scared the corrupt leaders of the Democratic Party so much that they substantially changed the rules for assigning delegates for the 2020 and 2024 Presidential Elections. These new rules have turned the Democratic Party from an “open” party with “open” primaries to a “closed” party with extremely closed primaries. I discuss many of these rule changes in this September 2023 report: DNC Plan to Rig the 2024 election. In particular, in many states, Independent voters are no longer allowed to vote at the Presidential Precinct Caucuses. In the long run, this policy will eventually lead to the death of the Democratic Party because it results in them ignoring the needs and interests of Independent voters – the very voters who decide all elections.

But as long as these unconstitutional policies are in place, there is almost no hope of overcoming the corrupt people in charge of the Democratic Party. Thus, it is unlikely that the second option of attempting to take over the Democratic Party will result in success during a coming General election.

Option #3: Trying to take over the Republican Party.
While the leaders of the Republican Party may be just as corrupt as the leaders of the Democratic Party, and while it would be extremely difficult to take control of the Republican Party away from the corporations that control it, there are several factors that will make it easier to take over the Republican Party than to take over the Democratic Party.

First, the Republican Party still allows and even welcomes Independent voters to attend their Presidential Precinct Caucuses.

Second, rank and file Republicans seem to be much more Patriotic that Democrats. They should be more likely to support the Constitution, the Pledge of Allegiance and the Statue of Liberty.

Most important, the hero of nearly all Republicans is Abraham Lincoln. Every year, Republicans all over America honor Lincoln by holding “Lincoln Day” dinners. Lincoln not only elevated the Republican Party with the goal of preserving a “Government of the People, by the People and for the People, but he won a Civil War in order to defend the Constitution and preserve the Union.

18

How we could take over the Republican Party is by starting a “Liberty and Justice” caucus inside of your local county or Legislative District Republican Party. People could recruit their friends and other concerned citizens to become Precinct Committee Officers inside the Republican Party. Then when there are enough people to form a majority in their local county or Legislative District, a new group of leaders could be voted in.

If enough LD or County organizations are converted to the Liberty and Justice Caucus, you can take over your Republican State Party organization – and eventually after enough States are converted, we can take over the national Republican Party organization. Along the way, we can hopefully elect some of our new Republican candidates to State legislatures and possibly even to Congress.

Ironically, the best and easiest time to take over the Republican Party both locally and nationally is AFTER the Republican Party has lost a national election in a landslide and their brand name is at rock bottom.

Many “fair weather” Republicans will be fleeing the problem – creating a leadership vacuum that we can fill. It is possible that the 2026 General Election will be a huge defeat for Republicans – and an opportunity for the rest of us.

19

Option #4: Start an entirely new political movement
It is likely that many people will become or are already fed up with both major political parties and do not want to have anything to do with either of these parties. Still, it would be unwise to start a new political party because both the Republican and Democratic Parties have “Loyalty Oaths.” The moment we register a new political party, we will be forcing many new members to resign from their existing major political party in order to join our political party.

The solution to this problem is to allow folks to stay with their current political party and still attend our Reunite America meetings. This is why the word Party in Liberty and Justice Party stands for an informal dinner party and not an official political party.

The crucial point is that before even thinking about forming a new political party which might be capable of replacing either the Democratic or Republican Parties, the Reunite America Movement must have MORE Monthly Meeting Attending members than the party they want to replace.

The number of people who attend local monthly meetings needs to be about 40 people – which would be enough to take over a single legislative district if they were all elected to be Republican Party Precinct officers.

20

Assuming an average state like Washington has 50 legislative districts, this comes to 40 times 50 or 2,000 voting and meeting attending members to replace a State Party organization. Multiply 2,000 dedicated members per state times 50 states and it is easy to see that we need at least 100,000 dedicated members to form a new national political party. To actually win either state or national elections, we will need at least ten times this number or about a million meeting attending members.

21

How can we attract one million meeting attending members?
The first thing we need is enough unhappy US citizens. This should be no problem in 2027 because more than 100 million Americans are going to be unable to pay for rapidly rising food prices.

The second thing we need is a way to better inform citizens of our Reunite America Movement. The good news is that with the decline of the corrupt corporate media, a new Independent News media has emerged to take its place. An Independent News media was crucial to winning the war against the British Empire and will be just as crucial to winning the war against the corrupt corporations that currently run both major Parties.

Option #5: A Creative Combination of Options 3 and 4
It is not possible to tell whether Option 3 or Option 4 will ultimately lead to victory. But it is not necessary to decide between the two of them now. We should encourage those interested in restoring a government of the People, by the People and for the People to attend either one or both Republican Party monthly meetings and Reunite America monthly meetings.

22

If it becomes obvious that it is not possible to reform the corrupt leadership of the Republican Party, then at some point the Liberty and Justice caucus can leave the Republican Party – and simply replace them one state at a time.

On the other hand, if several local groups are able to take over Republican Party state organizations, then that is certainly a much easier pathway to success as current state election laws strongly favor the two existing major parties.

23

The First Step
We need to start holding national meetings under the Reunite America banner. But these meetings do not have to begin right now. The key is to be ready to start once the opportunity actually arises. Politically active people are currently fully engaged in the 2026 General Election. Shortly after that is the Holiday Season. But then reality should start setting in some time after January 1, 2027. This would be a good time to start weekly or monthly meetings. In the meantime, I recommend reading some of the free books and or reports we offer at THIS LINK.

If you are interested in getting on our newsletter list and attending our first monthly meeting, send me an email to David at Reunite America dot us.

As always, I look forward to your questions and comments.

And I look forward to meeting you!

David Spring M. Ed.
